Weekly Filipino Menu

October 7, 2016

As a working mom, I needed to make sure I always plan ahead of time on almost everything. One of the things I love/hate doing is thinking what to feed the family. It's a real task especially if you want don't want to feed your family the same thing every weekly but at the same time still stick to your budget.

Spending wisely is the key to raising a family in an expensive city, like the one we're currently living in now, Singapore. As much as I want to apply those Pinterest, DIY-having your own mini vegetable garden for both health and money wise, we do not have that much space here. hehe..

I'm sharing with you now our next week's menu for our SGD 50 budget. Note that our family consists of 3 adults (me, hubby and our helper) and our 2 daughters (aged 2 and 1). Our helper and kids eat the same dish they've eaten during lunch, most of the time.

Here is my grocery list for this weekend:
Mains:
- minced pork for skinless longganisa
- pork belly for Menudo & Pork Pastel
- pork knuckles for Pinatisan
- chicken drumstick for adobo
- boneless chicken thigh for chicken sandwich
- beef (beef stir fry cut) - for beef broccoli
- fish - for sweet and sour fish
Others:
- Onion
- Garlic
- Potato
- Kalabasa (squash)
- Sitaw (long beans)
- Carrots
- Mushroom
- Evaporated Milk
- Broccoli
- Banana
- Yogurt milk
- Korean noodles
- Campbell soup

If you noticed, Monday and Tuesday's dinner isn't on my grocery list, that's because those are leftovers from the weekend before..hehehe...

Cereals such as Koko Crunch and Cheerios are also bought as "bulk/boxes" every month, hence no need to buy as and when needed. Same as the fresh milk to combine with the cereal when eating, soy sauce, salt, pepper, oyster sauce, fish sauce. These are the items you usually see in your cupboard and no need to buy weekly.

Note also to check your refrigerator and cabinet if you have any stock left before buying the ones on the list. You won't want to buy things that you already have. Sooner or later, if you keep more fresh goods than what you need, it will rot. So why not check first, and if you still have, then buy an extra fruit from your extra budget =)

Hope you find this helpful! Have a great weekend everyone!

Keep safe,
J
